Examined the construct validity of scores on the Psychological Empowerment Scale of G. Spreitzer (1995). Confirmatory factor analysis of data from 160 nurses supported Spreitzer's four empowerment dimensions, and these findings were cross-validated with a subset from the same sample. A variant of a technique for enhancing the validity of self-reports--the generalized bogus pipeline--was investigated in three experiments, with a total of 273 undergraduates. The validity of the Organizational Commitment Questionnaire as a measure of organizational commitment in the Japanese culture was studied with 1,481 Japanese employees.
