Tuccitto, Daniel E.; Giacobbi, Peter R., Jr.; Leite, Walter L. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2010
This study tested five confirmatory factor analytic (CFA) models of the Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) to provide validity evidence based on its internal structure. A sample of 223 club sport athletes indicated their emotions during the past week. Results revealed that an orthogonal two-factor CFA model, specifying error…

Waldman, David A.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
A factor analysis was performed on data from the University Residence Environmental Scales (URES). Although 10 meaningful factors were derived, only 50 of the original items were retained as marker items. Only 36 percent of the variance was accounted for by the 10 factors. (Author/BW)

Abbott, Robert D. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
Presents a series of analyses of Jackson's Personality Research Form items and scales to determine the apparent effects of the use of the differential validity index on more traditional item psychometric indices which have been used to reduce the confounding of trait scales and social desirability. (Author/RC)

Morris, John D. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
This study compared double cross-validation replication predictive accuracies of six types of factor scores with full-rank data by utilizing data in which classroom achievement was predicted from affective and cognitive variables. Prediction was significantly more accurate for factor scores than for full-rank data. (Author/CP)

Abelson, A. Geoffrey – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1986
A job satisfaction questionnaire was developed, and 485 special educators of the mentally retarded, learning disabled, emotionally disturbed, and severely handicapped responded to its dissemination. Factor analysis resulted in seven factors. Analysis of variance indicated differences between groups on factors dealing with Behavior Management…

Tinsley, Howard E. A.; Kass, Richard A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
A multitrait-multimethod matrix was computed to compare the descriptions of 10 traits (leisure activities) obtained by using the Leisure Activities Questionnaire (LAQ) and the Paragraphs about Leisure (PAL). The two procedures revealed a high degree of convergent and discriminant validity for the two instruments. (Author/BW)

Michael, William B.; Bachelor, Patricia – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1988
Analysis of data from standard affective measures showed both an orthogonally rotated and an obliquely rotated factor solution yielded psychological dimensions that correspond to instrument's scales. Study Attitudes and Methods Survey was studied, using data on a total of 483 eleventh graders. Both solutions afforded comparable inferences about…

This paper examines the construct generality of five self-report measures of anxiety across male and female samples, and illustrates the use of confirmatory maximum likelihood techniques for examining factorial invariance. (Author/BW)

Miller, Timothy R.; Cleary, T. Anne – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1993
The degree to which statistical item selection reduces direction-of-wording effects in balanced affective measures developed from relatively small item pools was investigated with 171 male and 228 female undergraduate and graduate students at 2 U.S. universities. Clearest direction-of-wording effects result from selection of items with high…

Michael, William B.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
This investigation is an extension of TM 506 002. A factor analysis of the intercorrelations of academic self-concept and reading scores revealed three factors: Academic Achievement, Positive Academic Affect, and Anxiety. The results also showed that the factor structure served to explain the criterion-related validity coeffecients obtained in the…
