Most discriminant function analyses provide a table of hits and misses with respect to classifications. Cohen's kappa coefficient is shown to be applicable to these tables and useful for setting confidence limits for the accuracy of the discriminant prediction. (Author/JKS)

The concurrent and predictive validity of the Achievement Anxiety Test (AAT) were investigated. The evidence gives cause to be concerned about the quality of a difference score because of the nonindependence of the two scores. The predictive validity of the old and new men's Pharmacist scales and the new women's Pharmacist scale on the Strong Vocational Interest Blank was investigated for male and female pharmacy students. As evidence that the Personal Attribute Inventory (PAI) is a self-concept scale, the present study required 265 college students to respond to it and to the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF). Scores from the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE) served as the criterion variable in a comparison of the predictive validity of the Dental Hygiene Aptitude Tests (DHAT) and the ACT Assessment tests.
