Using grade point average and graduation-nongraduation as two separate criteria and eight predictor variables selected from doctoral applicants' folders at an Arizona university, a canonical correlation of .624 for a sample of 65 graduate students shrank to -.095 for a cross validation sample of 21 students. The effectiveness of an abridged group assessment procedure in predicting initial teaching success, where success was measured largely through practice teaching evaluations, was tested with a sample of 247 female graduates of a teacher training college in Israel. Selection criteria at a graduate school of business were examined in a study evaluating the predictive validity of the Graduate Management Admissions Test and the Miller Analogies Test for 203 recent graduates.
