Peterson, Candida C.; Peterson, James L. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1976
Adults read a prose passage and responded to passages based on it which were either true or false and were phrased either affirmatively or negatively. True negatives yielded most errors, followed in order by false negatives, true affirmatives, and false affirmatives. (Author/RC)

In-Basket Assessment by Fully Objective Methods: Development and Evaluation of a Self-Report System.

Hakstian, A. Ralph; Scratchley, Linda S. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
The feasibility and efficacy of using self-report response methods with an In-Basket exercise were evaluated in two studies involving 258 managers and 55 college students, respectively. Results suggest that high face validity of the In-Basket exercise can be combined with the scoring ease and objectivity of self-reports. (SLD)

Eakin, Richard R.; Long, Clifford A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1977
A scoring technique for true-false tests is presented. The technique, paired item scoring, involves combining two statements and having the student select one of the four resultants possible: true-true, false-true, true-false, and false-false. The combined item is treated as a multiple choice item. (Author/JKS)

Hancock, Gregory R.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1993
Two-option multiple-choice vocabulary test items are compared with comparably written true-false test items. Results from a study with 111 high school students suggest that multiple-choice items provide a significantly more reliable measure than the true-false format. (SLD)

Page, Roger; Bode, James – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
The Ethical Reasoning Inventory (ERI) is an objective test derived from Kohlberg's Moral Judgment Interview. It correlated higher with Kohlberg , and has higher internal consistency than the Defining Issues Test and the Moral Judgment Scale. (CP)

Arlin, Patricia Kennedy – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
A paper-and-pencil test of seven of Inhelder and Piaget's formal operational schemes was developed. Multitrait-multimethod cross-validation procedures indicated that the objective test is a valid and reliable measure. It has the advantage of use in a large group setting without the need for trained clinical interviewers. (Author/PN)

Benson, Jeri; Crocker, Linda – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
As achievement in basic reading declines, the content validity of tests in special subjects may be reduced because examinees cannot read the test items. This study found that reading ability and item format affected test scores in the area of health science for a sample of high school students. (Author/JKS)

Shapiro, Stewart B.; Fitzgerald, Louise F. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1989
A 40-item Likert scale, Transpersonal Orientation to Learning, was developed to investigate transpersonal (spiritual or mystical) orientation. The scale was validated via administration to 166 graduate students in education to determine their beliefs about the development of spiritual potential in learning environments.
