Past practice of operationalizing the concept of fakeability of psychological tests is reviewed. The strengths and weaknesses of these indices are discussed in the light of a proposed new definition of fakeability based upon Naylor's model of measurement accuracy. (Author/JKS)

A method is outlined for analysis of the shape of an individual profile of scores on a standardized test battery. The method uses a simultaneous test procedure allowing for an overall test of profile flatness, with follow-up tests on all contrasts of interest. (SLD)

The efficacy of 5 scales of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2) in detecting fake good, fake bad, and honest profiles was investigated for 110 undergraduate students instructed to fake good, fake bad, or respond honestly. An analysis of variance suggests that these validity scales are useful. (SLD)
