The authors describe a drug prevention program for preadolescent children. The program tends to achieve its aims through the use of small group work and positive peer influence, development of positive self-concept and problem solving. An assertiveness training program was adapted for elementary school children. Five girls were trained to overcome their passiveness. An evaluation of their behavior before and after the training showed a significant increase in their assertive behavior due to the training. (SE)

Examined the effects of the Disruptive Child's Play Group (DCPG) on the self-concept of children with disruptive behavior problems. Results indicated that counselors using structured play can have positive effects on the attitudes of disruptive children. The DCPG significantly increased self-concept scores of disruptive children.
