Descriptors: Behavior, Environment, Environmental Research, Perception

Louviere, Jordan J.; Norman, Kent L. – Environment and Behavior, 1977
Describes Anderson's information integration theory and its associated method of "policy capturing" as a regression approach to information processing in judgment. Experiments are described that yield practical and theoretical information regarding applications of models in predicting bus ridership. (CS)

Crump, S. Larry; And Others – Environment and Behavior, 1977
The effects of littered and nonlittered areas on littering behavior were determined in picnic areas in the Uinta National Forest, Utah. Littered and nonlittered conditions were controlled by spreading or removing litter from specified areas. Observations revealed that in the nonlittered areas there was more litter than in the littered areas. (CS)

Humphrey, Craig R.; And Others – Environment and Behavior, 1977
In examining conditions influencing correspondence between attitude and behavior, an experiment concerning paper recycling in office buildings is described. Varied were methods of informing people about the experiment and techniques used for separating paper. Results revealed employee receptivity to any technique of separation and that receptivity…

Schiffenbauer, Allen I.; And Others – Environment and Behavior, 1977
The environment in a college dormitory was used to determine factors affecting perceptions of size and crowdedness. Factors that were tested were usable space, visual space, and amount of sunlight. Results confirmed that physical factors other than actual room size do influence perceived size and crowdedness. Implications for architectural design…

Stebbins, Robert A. – Environment and Behavior, 1973
Presents hypotheses generated from observational data from schools in Newfoundland and Jamaica on how certain physical conditions in classrooms encourage disorderly behavior there. (JR)

Procedures for Investigating the Effect of Light on Impression: Simulation of a Real Space by Slides

Hendrick, Clyde; And Others – Environment and Behavior, 1977
This study assessed whether slides of lighting arrangements could adequately simulate results from real space. Data indicated that in many important respects the results for the slides matched those for the real space for ratings on semantic differential scales, but that less consistent results were obtained for multidimensional scaling.…

Smith, Geoffrey C.; Alderdice, David – Environment and Behavior, 1979
This study investigates the behavioral responses of urban and semirural residents to a newly initiated Canadian national park environmental policy. The policy involved the reduction of service facilities within the park and a concomitant emphasis on the park's natural environment. (BT)
