On Consumer Self-Direction of Attendant Care Services: An Empirical Analysis of Survey Responses.

The concept of attendant care--provision of personal services to severely disabled individuals--is presented. Data from a survey of about 340 out of 718 consumers of attendant care indicate the existence of a mix of consumer-oriented programs. Consumer preference for a particular program design appeared to be governed by experience. (SLD)

The effectiveness of product development as a component of technical assistance services offered to demonstration projects is examined. It is concluded that written documents produced by technical assistance agencies do not appear to have a direct effect on programs delivering services to the handicapped. (Author/LMO)

A Benefit-Cost Analysis of a Supported Employment Model for Persons with Psychiatric Disabilities.

A methodology was developed for conducting a benefit-cost analysis of an innovative supported employment intervention for the psychiatrically disabled. Results indicated that the program, which targeted 19 participants, approached cost efficiency of almost .90 of benefits to costs. The value of the methodology for program evaluation is discussed.…

The background and dual evaluation approaches used in a nationwide arts evaluation project for Very Special Arts (arts programing for disabled and nondisabled children and adults) are described.
