Analyzes census tract data to assess residential mobility trends. Net immigration of professionals is found to be more likely in tracts with high proportions of retired households and, especially in tracts close to the cities' central business districts, professional immigration is associated with outmigration of retired households. Older adults are generally satisfied with moving to the seaside, and are motivated by a more congenial physical environment and social advantages of living with retirees with similar interests. Unfortunately social and health services have not kept up with the demand. (JAC)
