Compared nursing home use of 3,316 residents of continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) with that of general elderly population. CCRC residents had greater lifetime risk of nursing home entry and repeat entries, while their length of stay per admission was shorter. Findings illustrate nursing home use in insured and managed long-term care program for closed population. (Author/NB)
