Similarities and Differences: Measuring Diversity and Selecting Peers in Higher Education.
Lang, Daniel W.
Higher Education, v39 n1 p93-129 Jan 2000
Discusses issues concerned with diversity and selecting peer institutions against which institutions of higher education attempt to "benchmark" themselves. Suggests diversity and peer selection can be closely linked conceptually within single scales of similarity and dis- similarity. A case study illustrates connections between diversity and peer selection, tests existing paradigms, and develops a methodology for selecting peers and measuring diversity. (Author/DB)
