Family Dynamics and Coping after a Child's Intensive Care Nursery Experience: Implications for Early Intervention.
Able-Boone, Harriet; Stevens, Ellen A.
Infant-Toddler Intervention: The Transdisciplinary Journal, v4 n3 p161-72 Sep 1994
Interviews were conducted with 30 parents of children with developmental disabilities and 30 parents of children without disabilities, all graduates of intensive care hospital nurseries. The experience gave both groups of parents a stronger appreciation for children and life itself. Differences between the two groups included amount of caregiving required, frustration with locating appropriate resources, and relationships with friends. (Author/DB)
