Three experiments involving 85 learning-disabled (LD) children and 101 non-LD children investigated whether memory difficulties of LD children may be attributable in part to executive processing. Harnqvist, Kjell; And Others – Intelligence, 1994
Scores on ability tests given to 1,274 students in grades 4-6 and 1,310 in grades 7-9 were simultaneously factor analyzed at class and individual levels. At the individual level, the general factor was most highly loaded on fluid abilities. Three common factors were established at the class level. (SLD)

Models of working memory were compared in 2 experiments as means of explaining variance in the comprehension of 95 skilled and 80 learning-disabled readers from grades 4 through 7. Results suggest that learning-disabled children's working memory problems are functionally related to higher order processes and not memory alone. (SLD)

Genetic and environmental etiologies of individual differences in tests of intelligence and school achievement were investigated in a study from the Colorado Adoption Project. A multivariate conditional path model was fitted to general cognitive ability and reading performance data from 119 adoptive and 120 nonadoptive families. (SLD)
