Sundet, Jon Martin; Borren, Ingrid; Tambs, Kristian – Intelligence, 2008
The present study investigates the impact of changing fertility patterns on the Flynn effect. Intelligence test data comprised scores of army conscripts on an arithmetic, language and a Raven-similar test, and a composite score (General Ability). Family data of the conscripts enabled a decomposition of the population mean into effects of sibship…

Cowan, Richard; O'Connor, Neil; Samella, Katerina – Intelligence, 2003
Proposed three criteria to distinguish calendrical savants whose skills depend on memory from those who calculate and applied these to 10 calendrical savants. Results are discussed in relation to views that calendrical savants imply the existence of a modular mathematical intelligence or unconscious integer arithmetic. (SLD)

Type of Stimulus Mediates the Relationship between Working-Memory Performance and Type of Precocity.

Dark, Veronica J.; Benbow, Camilla Persson – Intelligence, 1994
Relationship between stimulus type (numeric or verbal) and type of precocity (mathematical and verbal) was studied in 104 gifted young adolescents through tasks measuring working memory. The relationship between type of stimulus and type of precocity suggests underlying differences between verbally and mathematically precocious youth in memory…

We examine the correlations between the national IQs of Lynn and Vanhanen (Lynn, R. and Vanhanen, T. (2002). "IQ and the wealth of nations". Westport, CT: Praeger. Westport, CT: Praeger, Lynn, R. and Vanhanen, T. (2006). "IQ and global inequality". Athens, GA: Washington Summit Books.) and educational attainment scores in math and science for 10-…

Anokhin, Andrey; Vogel, Friedrich – Intelligence, 1996
Scores on Raven's Progressive Matrices correlated positively with electroencephalogram-recorded alpha rhythm frequency (AF) in 101 healthy male adults, as did one test of verbal ability and one of mental performance. However, AF did not show significant relationships with general intelligence or spatial and arithmetic abilities. (SLD)

Furnham, Adrian; Bunclark, Katherine – Intelligence, 2006
In this study 141 British parents estimated their own, and one of their children's IQ on their overall intelligence as well as on Gardner's (1983) [Gardner, H. (1983). "Frames of the mind: The theory of multiple intelligences." New York: Basic Books.] seven multiple ''intelligences''. Replicating previous studies, fathers gave higher…
