The purpose of this paper is to describe a model enabling students and practitioners of family therapy to think clearly about the practice of it, and to analyze constructively various authors' works. This categorizing model includes perceptual framework, field of focus, theory of pathology, treatment strategies, and treatment techniques. (Author)

This article presents a model of family therapy which may be described as primarily conjoint therapy integrating techniques of conflict resolution into family systems theory. Conflict between the biological parents and other adults is actively elicited, old hostilities surfaced, and the sharing of here-and-now feelings is encouraged. (Author)
