Assesses the relationship of change in neighborhood ethnic composition and 1970 psychiatric hospitalization rates for persons born in Ireland, Germany, Poland, Austria, Hungary, the U.S.S.R., and Italy. Concludes that such neighborhood change was unrelated to psychiatric hospitalization rates of the foreign born. Discusses policy implications and areas for further research. (Author/GC)
