Immigrant Incorporation and Sociocultural Transnationalism.
Itzigsohn, Jose; Saucedo, Silvia Giorguli
International Migration Review, v36 n3 p766-98 Fall 2002
Analyzes sociocultural transnational linkages among Colombian, Dominican, and Salvadoran immigrants in the United States, emphasizing the importance of comparative analysis. Survey data indicate that participation in any particular transnational activity is low, but participation over all the different forms of transnational practices is extensive. The process of incorporation does not weaken transnational participation. More than one causal path accounts for the rise of transnational sociocultural practices. (Contains references.) (SM)
