Identity Status, Identity Processing Style, and the Transition to University.
Berzonsky, Michael D.; Kuk, Linda S.
Journal of Adolescent Research, v15 n1 p81-98 Jan 2000
Investigated the role of identity orientation in the transition to university. Found that identity status accounted for significant variation in students' progress on academic autonomy, educational involvement, and mature interpersonal relationships. Students with an informational identity style were best prepared to effectively adapt with the university context. Students with a diffuse/avoidant style were most apt to encounter difficulties.
