Hine, Jeffrey F.; Ardoin, Scott P.; Foster, Tori E. – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 2015
Research suggests that students spend a substantial amount of time transitioning between classroom activities, which may reduce time spent academically engaged. This study used an ABAB design to evaluate the effects of a computer-assisted intervention that automated intervention components previously shown to decrease transition times. We examined…

Allday, R. Allan; Bush, Miranda; Ticknor, Nicole; Walker, Lindsay – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 2011
We used a multiple baseline design across participants to determine if teacher greetings would reduce the latency to task engagement. Three participants were identified by their respective teachers as having difficulty initiating task-appropriate engagement at the beginning of class. Latency was measured from teacher greeting until the participant…

Pfiffner, Linda J.; And Others – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 1985
Examination of on-task behavior and academic performance of eight behavior problem second and third graders revealed that an all-positive approach relying primarily on praise was not effective. A classwide peer tutoring procedure was implemented in an urban elementary school classroom of 23 students, to improve students' spelling performance. Wehby, Joseph H.; Hollahan, M. Stephanie – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 2000
A study involving an elementary student with learning disabilities evaluated the effectiveness of a high-probability request sequence on compliance to a request for completion of a math assignment. High probability requests were effective in reducing the latency to compliance but only minimally affected duration of engagement. (Contains five…
