Reynolds, Cecil R.; Gutkin, Terry B. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1980
The apparent stability of the three-factor solution across sex and age supports the interpretation that Wechsler Intelligence Scale For Children-Revised (WISC-R) factor scores are independent of child's sex and age. Construct validity is documented across numerous demographic variables. (Author)

Hutton, Jerry B.; Davenport, Martha A. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
Analyzed intelligence and achievement test scores for 100 learning disabled boys to investigate the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Revised) as a predictor of Woodcock Johnson reading, mathematics, and written language scores. WISC-R performance IQ predicted the greatest variance. (JAC)

Bell, Morris; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1986
Factor analysis of the Bell Object Relations Inventory items produced four subscales interpreted to be underlying dimensions of object relations. The implications of the subscales, and the potential of the instrument for empirical examination of theoretical assumptions about the object relations ego function and its components, are discussed.…

Altepeter, Tom; Handal, Paul J. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
Assessed construct validity of Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised (PPVT-R) as measure of general achievement in 208 children, aged 6-12. Results indicated that PPVT-R had substantial loadings on factors resembling Kaufman's (1975) Verbal Comprehension factor, while it consistently failed to load significantly on achievement-related factors.…

Hollenbeck, George P.; Kaufman, Alan S. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1973
Results were quite similar for each of the factor analytic procedures, an indication of a strong underlying structure of the WPPSI tests. Regardless of the factor analytic technique used, two factors appeared--one clearly verbal and the other clearly performance--at each of the three age levels. (Authors)

Watts, Fraser N.; Everitt, Brian S. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1980
The pattern of correlations between subtests suggests that several of the aptitudes are of doubtful validity. In no case was it possible to extract more than three adequately determined factors. (Author)

Thorne, Frederick C.; Pishkin, Vladimir – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1978
Examines the Personal Health Survey methodology and suggests that in studying the factorial composition of physical and mental health complaints in limited populations, the data provides normative information "only" for the samples tested on one occasion. States further that it would require large-scale normative studies to make any…

Silverstein, A. B. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1982
Performed confirmatory factor analyses on the standardization data for the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Revised) to test competing two- and three-factor hypotheses. Results slightly favored the three-factor solution, but must be weighed against the greater convenience of the two-factor…

Meldman, Monte Jay; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1978
Melges et al. (1971) presented evidence that a client's sense of self-worth is highly correlated with his degree of optimism about his personal future. Here the cross-lagged panel correlation (CLPC) technique was used to test their hypothesis that changes in personal future outlook lead to changes in self-esteem. (Editor/RK)

Inglis, James; Lawson, J. S. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
Investigated nature of a learning disability index (LDI) for the objective assessment of verbal-nonverbal patterns of intellectual deficit on the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised using Factor II score coefficients derived from an unrotated principal components analysis of normative data, and average scaled scores. The…

Russell, Stephen F.; Ludenia, Krista – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1983
Examined the psychometric properties of the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control (MHLC) Scales with alcoholic patients (N=100). The three MHLC Scales appear to measure largely independent dimensions of locus of control beliefs specifically related to health. Factor analyses suggest that the instrument is factorily valid. (Author/JAC)

Thorne, Frederick C. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1978
The Personal Health Survey (PHS) is a 200-item inventory designed to sample symptomatology as subjective experiences from the 12 principal domains of organ system and psychophysiological functioning. This study investigates the factorial validity of the empirically constructed scales. (Author)

Larsen, Knud S.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1983
Examined closed patient files for scores from the Psychological Screening Inventory between 1977-1979. Files (N=123) were assessed for suicidal inclination in five categories, ranging from "no suicidal ideation" to "serious attempt."
