Haase, Richard F.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1975
This study assessed the validity of the Pain Apperception Test (PAT) against an accepted and validated predictive measure of pain tolerance, a Kinesthetic After Effects Task (KAE). As well, it replicated an earlier finding by Petrovich that suggested that scores derived from the PAT are related significantly to neuroticism. (Author/RK)

Frey, Joseph, III; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1976
Attempts to establish further the validity of the Child Scale, to investigate the individual nature of the items that compose the scale and their value as demographic factors in the prediction of therapeutic outcome, and to document further the use of target complaints as criteria in investigating the outcome of psychotherapy. (Author/RK)
Descriptors: Demography, Measurement Instruments, Predictive Validity, Psychological Studies

Hartlage, Lawrence C.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1976
One hundred culturally disadvantaged children were tested on culture-fair (Raven) and culturally biased (WISC) tests, and scores were correlated with academic achievement. (Author)
Descriptors: Academic Achievement, Correlation, Cultural Influences, Disadvantaged

Scherr, S. S.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1973
Vane Kindergarten Test and WPPSI scores of 33 kindergarten children were compared. Obtained results suggest that the VKT is promising method to assess intelligence in a reasonably brief period of time and provides results comparable to those of the more time-consuming WPPSI. (Author)
Descriptors: Intelligence, Kindergarten Children, Psychological Studies, Tables (Data)

Descriptors: Predictive Validity, Psychological Studies, Research Methodology, Sex Differences

The present study examined long-term relationships among the SIT, the Stanford-Binet, L-M (SB) and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC). (Author)
Descriptors: Children, Intelligence Tests, Methods, Special Education

Edinger, Jack D.; Weiss, William U. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1974
Fifteen male college students and 15 male process schizophrenics were used as Ss in this study. Intercorrelations among IQs, AQs, AQ-IQ discreoancies, RPRS scores, and psychiatric status of the Ss (schizophrenics vs. normals) were computed. (Author)
Descriptors: Correlation, Intelligence Quotient, Psychological Studies, Research Methodology

Meier, Augustine; Edwards, Henry – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1974
This study examined age and sex differences, and the interaction of age x sex, with respect to "meaning in life" as defined by Frankl and measured by the Purpose-in-Life Test (PIL) developed by Crumbaugh and Maholick. (Author)

Descriptors: Diagnostic Tests, Followup Studies, Measurement Instruments, Predictive Validity

Hollenbeck, George P.; Kaufman, Alan S. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1973
Results were quite similar for each of the factor analytic procedures, an indication of a strong underlying structure of the WPPSI tests. Regardless of the factor analytic technique used, two factors appeared--one clearly verbal and the other clearly performance--at each of the three age levels. (Authors)
Descriptors: Factor Analysis, Factor Structure, Intelligence Tests, Tables (Data)

Armentrout, James A. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1976
WAIS subtset standard scores, IQ scores, and factorial deviation quotients were correlated with Bender Gestalt recall scores for 111 vocational rehabilitation clients. Results found that the Bender recall task could not classify Ss as to general intelligence level with greater accuracy than could be obtained with the WAIS Vocabulary subtest alone.…
Descriptors: Intelligence, Measurement Instruments, Memory, Predictive Validity

Prigatano, George P. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1977
The effectiveness of the Wechsler Memory Scale as a screening test for brain dysfunction when used with "new" scoring procedures was assessed in this cross-validation study. (Editor)
