Assessed the relative predictive validity of obvious (O), neutral (N), and subtle (S) items of the MMPI MA scale for 86 males. Subtle-obvious ratings were compared to criteria in questionnaire, life-history, and objective tests. Examined the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), and the Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale (TMAS) for specificity and validity as measures of anxiety and depression with 170 undergraduate students.
