The Reiss Premarital Sexual Permissiveness Scale was administered to 51 male and 54 female undergraduates. Factor analysis revealed three major factors: intercourse with affection, kissing with affection, and nonaffectional sexual activity. It is suggested that permissiveness be defined as lack of affection. (Author)

Incoming university freshmen (n=752) completed an anonymous questionnaire, and their responses were analyzed by percentages, analysis of variance, and factor analysis. Results showed less of a gap between attitudes and behavior than was found in past studies. New roles for student personnel workers are discussed. (Author)

A sex-role stereotype questionnaire was administered to 67 females who were either (a) consistent users of contraceptives, (b) inconsistent users, (c) nonusers, or (d) virgins. No differences were found between the four groups for the feminine items; however, significant differences were obtained for the masculine items. (Author)

Sexual attitudes and behaviors of a representative sample of single students at a California college were surveyed in spring 1972. Eighty-three percent of the males and 72 percent of the females reported premarital intercourse. This behavior is discussed in terms of its interpersonal context and the students' sexual attitudes. Stress symptoms reported by 725 students were analyzed in terms of causes to which they were attributed. College students from three campuses in the southeastern U.S. were surveyed as to their attitudes toward sex and their sexual behavior. Results indicate that there was substantial agreement between attitudes and reported behavior when affectionate feeling existed between partners. (Author)
