It is concluded that systematic desensitization or relaxation therapy is not effective in inducing assertive behavior in the male chronic schizophrenic. The treatment of choice for the older chronic male schizophrenic remains socioenvironmental therapy. (Author)

The purpose of this study was to examine children's reactions to different types of peer behaviors which are indicative of emotional disturbance. Subjects were found to view distrubed peers as unattractive and were unwilling to associate with them. (EK)

The MMPI profile pattern, described here, entailed a behavior pattern that includes hostile-aggressive acting out. The frequency of this profile pattern and the social and psychological importance of the behavior pattern associated with it suggest that clinical investigators can profitably study this group of men. This study attempted to ascertain the relationship between personality variables and the use of social settings. A factor analysis yielded a structure which generally supported the hypothesis of interrelations among personality variables and use of behavior settings. One major finding is that a substantial share of the variance common to the five defensive scales included in the study are accounted for by the role playing factor. This study examines the relationship between three variables in the problem-solving approaches of emotionally disturbed children. The variables of locus of control, persistence behavior, and reflection-impulsivity were related to each other and to problem-solving approach. The varying nature of these relationships is discussed.
