On the Cognitive Structure of Interpersonal Problems Treated in Psychotherapy.
Horowitz, Leonard M.
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v47 n1 p5-15 Feb 1979
Examined problems in the form "I can't ... (do something)" mentioned by patients beginning psychotherapy. These problems were identified and subjected to a multidimensional scaling and hierarchical clustering scheme. Dimensions yielded were: (1) degree of psychological involvement; (2) nature of involvement; and (3) subject's intention to influence, change, or control the other person. (Author/BEF)
