This experiment examines extended learning over a 4-day period in infants exposed to responsive and unresponsive wooden mobiles. Frequency of kicks and attention to the mobile increased over the first three days and was found to vary with the introduction of a novel mobile on day four. (GO)

Results from three studies involving college, third grade, and kindergarten subjects, suggest that individuals across a wide age range are able to use the visual properties of a stimulus for only a very brief period as the basis for making matched judgments. (Author/SDH)

A recall paradigm tested twenty-four 5-year-olds and twenty-four adults on short-term recognition memory for briefly presented visual information. Results indicate that processes other than verbal labeling are probably more responsible for age differences in immediate memory performance than labeling. (JH)

Investigated the influence of vertical, horizontal, and diagonal symmetry on recognition memory in preschool, kindergarten, and second-grade children. The influence of contour was also investigated. Children were trained to attend to axes of symmetry in order to improve performance on a memory task. (Author/DB)
