Muis, Krista R.; Ranellucci, John; Franco, Gina M.; Crippen, Kent J. – Journal of Experimental Education, 2013
The authors explored whether manipulating feedback influenced cognition, motivation, and achievement in an undergraduate chemistry course. They measured students' ("N" = 250) achievement goals, test anxiety, self-efficacy, and metacognitive strategy use at the beginning and end of the semester. After completing the first set of…

Furst, Edward J.; Steele, Betty Lou – Journal of Experimental Education, 1986
This study investigated the reasons and motivations of older adults in pursuing adult education at universities. Data were collected on 78 learners aged 62-85. Both factor and cluster analysis were used on an inventory of reasons. The factor pattern differed from patterns found on younger adults. (JAZ)

Bergin, David A. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1995
College students randomly assigned to mastery goal (n=26) or competitive goal (n=25) situations read a passage and took a free-recall test. The mastery situation resulted in higher achievement and greater interest, and there was no significant difference between groups in learning strategies. (SLD)

Hayamizu, Toshihiko; Weiner, Bernard – Journal of Experimental Education, 1991
C. S. Dweck's achievement goals model was tested by examining relationships between individual differences in achievement-goal tendencies and perceived causality for 123 undergraduates (45 males and 78 females). The stronger each performance-goal tendency, the more unstable and controllable low ability was perceived. Inconsistencies with Dweck's…
