Results indicated that learning disabled (LD) children performed less well than non-LD children on tasks requiring internal strategies or plans. With one exception, hyperactive and nonhyperactive LD children performed similarly. Effects of high activity level and cognitive impulsivity on the production of relevant, task-directed verbalizations were examined in a group of 90 second graders. Impulsivity-reflectivity was related to the production of both spontaneous and induced on-task verbalizations, but high activity level ratings were not. (Author/CL)
