This study was designed to document, four years later, the progress of 52 LD adolescents who entered a special education program in the ninth grade. The validity of the Myklebust Pupil Rating Scale (PRS) in predicting learning disability was investigated in a two-year follow-up study of 55 preschool children. Correlational analysis yielded highly significant results with all correlations between the PRS scores and criterion measures. (SBH)

This review examines the relationship between specific reading disabilities and aggressive behavior. It finds that there is not enough evidence to conclude that reading disability causes aggressive or delinquent behavior, though limited evidence does suggest that reading disability may worsen preexisting aggressive behavior. The resource room intervention was effective for increasing reading rates of LD children but the increased rates did not appear to be maintained in the regular classrooms. The group with the shortest stay in the resource room made significantly greater rate gains during treatment and continued during follow-up to learn at a higher rate. (Author)
