Åsberg Johnels, Jakob; Kopp, Svenny; Gillberg, Christopher – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 2014
Writing difficulties are common among children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), but the nature of these difficulties has not been well studied. Here we relate behavioral, psycholinguistic, cognitive (memory/executive), and graphomotor measures to spelling skills in school-age girls with ADHD (n = 30) and an age-matched group…

Tolar, Tammy D.; Fuchs, Lynn; Fletcher, Jack M.; Fuchs, Douglas; Hamlett, Carol L. – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 2016
Three cohorts of third-grade students (N = 813) were evaluated on achievement, cognitive abilities, and behavioral attention according to contrasting research traditions in defining math learning disability (LD) status: low achievement versus extremely low achievement and IQ-achievement discrepant versus strictly low-achieving LD. Kaufman, Alan S.; McLean, James E. – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1986
Learning Disabled children (N=198) were tested on both the WISC-R (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised) and K-ABC (Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children). Joint factor analysis produced three-factor and four-factor solutions. Factors corresponding to three K-ABC scales generally converged with three WISC-R factors. (Author/CL)

Badian, Nathlie A. – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1984
WPPS (Weschsler Preschool Primary Scale of Intelligence) and screening test scores of 72 children at risk for learning disability at age five were examined three years later. At follow-up there were 32 poor and 40 good readers. Both groups had average intelligence at age five and had received similar special help. (Author/CL)

MacMillan, Donald L.; Gresham, Frank M.; Bocian, Kathleen M. – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1998
This study evaluated 150 elementary students previously referred to school study teams for possible learning disability (LD) as defined by a discrepancy between IQ and performance on a standardized achievement test. Comparison with actual school-based decisions found fewer than half of students certified as LD by local schools evidenced the…
