Ukaegbu, Alfred O. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1977
This paper examines fertility patterns of women in two different types of marital unions (monogamous and polygynous) in 16 sample villages of eastern Nigeria. Results show polygyny tends to reduce fertility through the intermediary of a comparatively wider age differential between the polygynists and their wives. (Author)

Bytheway, William R. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1981
Analyzed data of marriages in England and Wales in 1976 to determine patterns of variation with age of age differences for males and females in marriage. Data indicated both sexes are more likely to marry an older person at the age of 50 than at the age of 30. (Author/RC)

Schoen, Robert – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1975
The proposition that age at first marriage is inversely related to the risk of divorce was examined by means of detailed age-duration-specific divorce rates for California 1969. A strong inverse relationship was found for male ages at marriage 18 through 25 and female ages at marriage 16 through 24. (Author)

Call, Vaughn R. A.; Otto, Luther B. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1977
This study provides estimates for the Nye and Berardo model of the effect of age at marriage on socioeconomic attainments. Kon, Igor S.; Losenkov, Vladimir A. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1978
The purpose of this questionnaire survey of more than 1500 Soviet adolescents, aged 14 to 20, was to clarify the important and meaningful criteria for teenage friendships and to describe actual forms and psychosocial functions of these friendships. Results suggest adolescent friendship is not losing its significance or its exclusiveness. (Author)
