Maneker, Jerry S.; Rankin, Robert P. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1985
A random sample of all divorce cases in California in 1977 provides the database for this study of variations in marital duration. Farrell, Janice; Markides, Kyriakos S. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1985
The relationships between health and marital status and marital satisfaction were investigated with data from a three-generation study of Mexican Americans. Ukaegbu, Alfred O. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1977
This paper examines fertility patterns of women in two different types of marital unions (monogamous and polygynous) in 16 sample villages of eastern Nigeria. Albert, Alexa; Bulcroft, Kris – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1988
Conducted telephone interviews with 320 pet owners and 116 nonowners. Found sociodemographic differences between groups. Remarried people, families with children, and families in middle stages of life cycle were most likely to have pets. Widows, empty-nesters, families with infants, and those with annual incomes of $8,000 or less were least likely…

Jeffords, Charles R.; Dull, R. Thomas – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1982
Surveyed 2000 Texas residents about legislation for marital rape. Results revealed 35 percent of 1300 respondents favored a law in which a wife could accuse her husband of rape. Subsequent analysis indicated persons who were female, young, single, or educated were most likely to favor this law. (Author/RC)

Norton, Arthur J.; Moorman, Jeanne E. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1987
Examined recent trends and future prospects regarding marriage and divorce patterns among women in the United States. Results suggest that first marriage takes place later, more adult women will never marry, divorce has likely peaked, remarriage after divorce is declining, and women representing first 10 years of the baby boom are expected to have…

Lipman-Blumen, Jean – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1975
A typology of crises is developed to be used with critical aspects of the social system to predict both crisis and postcrisis period role changes. The crisis framework is then applied to macro-changes in family structure in response to an archetypal crisis, World War II. Census data generally support the hypotheses. (Author)

England, J. Lynn; Kunz, Phillip R. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1975
Age-Specific divorce rates and weighted divorce rates are evaluated in comparison with several traditional rates. The analysis reversals of the ranking of some states in comparison with rankings based on other divorce rates, and the age-specific rates for young married couples is lower than expected. (Author)

Norton, Arthur J. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1983
Used data from a 1980 national sample survey to show differences in the timing of major family life-cycle events according to age, social and economic characteristics, and marital history. Results suggest that age generational differences, more than any other factor, influence timing of life-cycle events. (Author/JAC)

Kim, Soung-Yee; Stinner, William F. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1980
Urban residential and Christian religious background and higher levels of educational attainment yield a later marriage age. Findings suggest that benefits accruing from higher social status, greater education, and delayed marriage are lessened by a shorter marriage/first birth interval. (Author)

Sprecher, Susan; And Others – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1988
