Reconstructs social indicators of activity patterns at age 17. Respondents (N=662) were asked to recall various features of daily life at that age. The results indicated a secular decline in the time adolescents spend in family and household settings and with parents nearby. (Author/JAC)

Compared 75 adolescents' experience in daily interactions with family and friends, using self-reports. When with their friends, these adolescents reported a situation more conducive to enjoyment. However, those adolescents who spent more time with friends than with family showed poorer school performance and wider mood variability. (JAC)
