Analyzed data from a national probability sample of 15 through 19-year-old women to determine the influence of parents and peers on premarital sexual behavior, contraceptive use, and premarital pregnancy. Results show women with views resembling those of parents have low levels of premarital experience. (Author)

Using a two-wave panel design, examined antecedents and short-term consequences of teenage marriage, parenting, and school-leaving. Findings showed that while these three role transitions are not greatly related to social origins, academic ability, or performance, dropping-out is more highly linked than the other two. (Author)

Investigated teenage daughters' quasi-adult companionate and confederate roles vis-a-vis their mothers in maritally nonintact as compared to maritally intact homes. Used survey data from a study of 449 Black and White mothers and their daughters in Michigan. Few significant differences were found by marital history for either group. (Author)
