Important findings from the School Health Education Evaluation are summarized, focusing on the four principal scores of overall knowledge, attitude, practice, and program-specific knowledge. Reports a content analysis of sexuality education curricula (nine nationally available curricula and one curriculum guide) for junior and senior high school students. The basis for analysis was the Sex Information Education Council of the U.S.'s Guidelines for Comprehensive Sexuality Education. Results found only six of the curricula acceptable.…

Potentially important features and outcomes of sex education programs are examined in relation to program goals of reducing unwanted adolescent pregnancy and the facilitation of positive and fulfilling sexuality. A survey of sex education professionals indicates wide agreement on features and outcomes, as well as the compatibility of goals. (JMF)

From a literature review and interviews with a panel of experts in prevention research, 11 key components of effective prevention curricula were identified.
