This study investigated effects of receiving results of the Kuder Occupational Interest Survey on several aspects of vocational behavior among high school students. It was found that receiving results increased self-knowledge compared to a control group who received none. Implications for guidance programs in the schools are discussed. (Author)

This study sought to analyze the relationship between scores obtained from the Career Maturity Inventory (CMI) and the Occupational Plans Questionnaire (OPQ). The sample consisted of 169 eleventh-grade students. Only limited correlation was found between students' career maturity and occupational plans scores. (Author)

During a two-week period, 17 kindergarten children in an experimental group were exposed to nontraditional role models and curricular materials and a control group of 22 kindergarten children was exposed to a curriculum unrelated to vocational or sex roles. Neither group made a significant change in their vocational role preferences. (Author)

This study was designed to assess the effects of a career education program on students' career maturity as measured by the Career Maturity Inventory (CMI). Results indicate that the career education program had a positive effect in increasing students' levels of career maturity. (Author)

College students changing their declared major were asked to specify what job they were "headed for" in their old and new major choice. Students (N=153) were studied and it was found that low career salience was associated with a relatively high incidence of vocational indecision. Results suggest there may be two sources of vocational indecision: high career-salience students who value intrinsic rewards and low career-salience students who do not value intrinsic rewards.
