Sensitivity of the POI to Instructional Set in Military and College Populations

The Personal Orientation Inventory (POI) is supposedly resistant to faking. This assumption was experimentally tested with 156 naive adult college and military participants by manipulating instructional set. Results indicate that participants were able to elevate or depress their scores as directed. (Author)

Differentiation of Holland's Personality Types by Means of Psychological Need Variables

This article describes an attempt to differntiate Holland's six types by means of personality need variables. Participants were administered Holland's VPI and Jackson's Personality Research Form (PRF). One-way analyses of variance revealed that PRF variables could not differentiate Holland's six types. Sex Similarities and Differences in Locus of Control in Relation to Academic Adjustment Measures

Correlations between Rotter's Internal-External (I-E) Control of Reinforcement Scale and the Omnibus Personality Inventory (OPI) were predicted based on previous research and a theoretical expectation of a relationship between I-E and adjustment. These findings have implications for counseling and further research using the I-E variable. (Author)
