Mitchell, James V., Jr. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1976
An empirical model was developed to represent the organization of the value-attitude system as postualted by Rokeach, and the model was used to determine the internal consistency of the system, its structure and components, and the extent to which the system permitted the prediction of attitudes from values. Baker, Stanley B.; Slakter, Malcolm J. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1975
The investigations reported in this article serve a dual purpose. First, validity and reliability data relative to the School Counselor Attitude Inventory (SCAI) are presented for the users of that instrument. Secondly, those who share an interest in tests and measurement may find the presentation instructive. (Author)

Osterlund, Blair L.; Cheney, Kenneth – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1978
This study demonstrates the reliability of holistic reading for student essays. It was found that the Test of Standard Written English correlates to a greater degree with the holistic reading scores than it does with teacher-assigned grades. (Author)

Davis, Everett E. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1975
The manual for the McCarthy Scales of Children's Abilities (MSCA) cites a study of concurrent validity. A partial replication of the study yielded lower means and larger standard deviations for five of the MSCA scales and for the Stanford-Binet. (Author)

Rowan, Robert W. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1978
The predictive validity of the American College Test (ACT) for two classes totaling 2,289 students was investigated at successive intervals over four years of college. Correlational coefficients and expectancy tables substantiated the validity of the ACT for prediction of GPA, for progress, and for graduation within four years. (Author)

Hoffman, Roy A.; Ziegler, Edward W. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1978
The writing samples of high school and college students were scored using objective indices. The relationships between these indices and the scores earned on a standarized English test were determined. The results support the contention that a standarized test could identify college students who have difficulty writing. (Author)

Lokan, Janice – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1977
This article describes a study in which six academic and 25 shop courses offered in a special vocational high school were grouped into five clusters for each sex. Predictor tests were given to successive cohorts of entering ninth-grade students. (Author)

Wittmaier, Bruce C. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1976
Compared with high-test anxious students, those with low scores on both scales of the Achievement Anxiety Test were less anxious before a test, studied less for it, and got more sleep the night before. The pattern of results was congruent with expectations. (Author)

Perry, Dallis K. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1976
Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) scores of 2,622 students who were tested in the 8th, 9th, or 10th grades and who later entered a Minnesota area vocational-technical school were analyzed to determine the relationships between test scores and training program entered. Results are presented. (Author)

Keller, John M.; Pugh, Richard C. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1976
Correlations between Rotter's Internal-External (I-E) Control of Reinforcement Scale and the Omnibus Personality Inventory (OPI) were predicted based on previous research and a theoretical expectation of a relationship between I-E and adjustment. These findings have implications for counseling and further research using the I-E variable. (Author)
