Katz, Barry M.; McSweeney, Maryellen – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1980
An explicit statement of a statistic which is a nonparametric analog to one-way MANOVA is presented. The statistic is a multivariate extension of the nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test (1952). In addition two post hoc procedures are developed and compared. (Author/JKS)

Huberty, Carl J.; Smith, Jerry D. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1982
A particular strategy for investigating effects from a multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) is proposed. The strategy involves multiple two-group multivariate analyses. The analysis strategy is described in detail and illustrated with real data sets. (Author/JKS)

Harris, Richard J. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1976
The partitioned-U procedure is outlined, a fundamental logical flaw in this procedure's avoidance of any direct test of the significance of the first discriminant function or largest coefficient of canonical correlation is pointed out, and two alternatives to the partitioned-U procedure are discussed. McArdle, J. Jack – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1984
The many methodological contributions of Raymond B. Cattell to multivariate analysis are discussed in terms of contemporary issues in structural equation modeling. His factor analytic approach is compared with current modeling practices. A critical evaluation finds much of Cattell's work still innovative, technically advanced, and valuable to…

Cliff, Norman; Charlin, Ventura – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1991
Variance formulas of H. E. Daniels and M. G. Kendall (1947) are generalized to allow for the presence of ties and variance of the sample tau correlation. Applications of these generalized formulas are discussed and illustrated using data from a 1965 study of contraceptive use in 15 developing countries. (SLD)

Tang, K. Linda; Algina, James – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1993
Type I error rates of four multivariate tests (Pilai-Bartlett trace, Johansen's test, James' first-order test, and James' second-order test) were compared for heterogeneous covariance matrices in 360 simulated experiments. The superior performance of Johansen's test and James' second-order test is discussed. (SLD)

Cohen, Jacob; Lee, Robert S. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1987
STATGRAPHICS, a statistical package written for the IBM PC/XT/AT, is reviewed. In addition to superb graphics, STATGRAPHICS is unequalled in time series procedures, quality control, linear programming, and other mathematical procedures. The modules for regression analysis, categorical data analysis, and nonparametric analysis are good, but contain…
