Looking North: Exploring Multiracial Experiences in a Canadian Context
Taylor, Leanne
New Directions for Student Services, n123 p83-91 2008
Despite an increasing multiracial population in Canada, multiracial organizing is uncommon, and student services do not generally address multiracial experiences in universities. In this article, the author explores the multicultural context in which mixed-race people live in Canada and discusses some stories of individuals who have shared about their experiences through memoirs, documentaries, and narratives. The author concludes by offering some thoughts on what these experiences might suggest for higher education practices and student services in Canada and elsewhere.
