A role theory model of consultation in adolescent group homes is explored. An appropriate degree of role distancing and an interactional focus of (a) resident relationships, (b) staff relationships, and (c) staff/resident relationships are explained. (Author)

The model allows for the determination of the severity of the training problems, thus leading naturally to problem priority and in addition a basis for evaluation design. Results from the use of the model, in an operational setting, are presented. (Author)

There is reason to believe rehabilitation-oriented facilities have not reached full potential as correctional institutions. Failure to do so seems related to a lack of sufficient treatment personnel to help sustain functioning at an optimum level. If this is so, the psychological counselor can be of significant use to these institutions. (Author)
