Types of faculty development efforts are examined, including three categories: individual initiatives (reflection, teaching scripts, self-directed learning); formal programs (mentors, teaching rounds, workshops, advanced education, sabbaticals); and organizational change efforts. Programs at the Southern College of Optometry are highlighted. (MSE)
