Schroth, Marvin L. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
This study investigated the relationship between Jensen's Level I-Level II mental abilities and how they correlate with problem solving in college students. The Level I-Level II correlation was not significant, but intelligence and problem solving were significantly correlated. Results are discussed in relation to prior findings. (Author/RD)

Silverstein, A. B. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1983
Formulas for estimating the validity of random short forms were applied to the standardization data for the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, and the Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale. These formulas demonstrated how much "better than random" the best short forms of these…

Hill, A. Lewis – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1978
Scaled scores on Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale subtests were compared among five samples of institutionalized mentally retarded (aged 16 - 71 years) from the east coast (509 Ss), west coast (436 Ss), and three from the midwest (113, 51, and 111 Ss). (Author/PHR)

Ryan, Joseph J.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
An examination of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised (WAIS-R) subtests and intelligence quotients in a diagnostically heterogeneous sample of patients referred for psychological or neuropsychological evaluation found that reliabilities and standard errors of measurement approximated normative group reports. WAIS-R is a reliable…

Silverstein, A. B. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Estimates of the validity of random short forms can serve as benchmarks against which to appraise the validity of particular short forms. Formulas are presented for estimating the validity of random short forms and illustrated with Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised (WAIS-R) and Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory data. Russell, Elbert W. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
The Revised Wechsler Memory Scale, Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale subtests, and Halstead-Reitan battery were factor analyzed. Five types of memory were isolated: immediate verbal, recent verbal, recent figural, figural learning, and verbal learning storage. Loadings of memory and nonmemory tests indicate a closer relationship between some of…

Wagner, Edwin E.; McCormick, Mary Kathleen – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Subjects with higher verbal than performance IQ's achieved significantly poorer Pascal-Suttell Bender-Gestalt scores than subjects with higher performance over verbal IQ's. The latter subjects were more likely to have dropped out of high school and to have spent some time in prison. (Author/RD)

Feingold, Alan – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Age-scaled information and vocabulary scores of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale and self-ratings of intelligence on a six-point scale were correlated for 190 predominately Caucasian undergraduates. Coefficients of the expected magnitude confirmed validity of the subtests as measures of self-rated intelligence. (Author/CM)
