Job Skill Expectations and Training of Special Education Coordinators in Delaware Public Schools
Parana, Angela D.
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Wilmington University (Delaware)
This executive position paper proposed the implementation of a statewide exceptionalities coordinator certification program to improve the skillsets of current Special Education Coordinators and Educational Diagnosticians and better prepare those interested in entering the role. Surveys regarding skills needed by Special Education Coordinators and Educational Diagnosticians were completed by those currently in the role as well as Special Education Directors and Supervisors. Data from those surveys was used to create an exceptionalities coordinator certification program that could be utilized throughout Delaware public schools so those in the role of either Special Education Coordinator or Educational Diagnostician are able to ensure identified students are being appropriately served within their schools.
