Understanding the factors that affect the professionalism for pharmacy students can enable pharmacy schools to make changes necessary to improve the professionalism performance of their students on APPE rotations. The changes can include what is taught during the didactic portion of the pharmacy program, through the offerings of interprofessional education, through the training of preceptors, through preparation for acute patient care rotations, and through a focus on professionalism and professional development in preparation for their career as a pharmacist. APPE rotations serve as the final stage of pharmacy education and upon the completion of APPE rotations, graduates should be prepared to practice professionally and with the highest level of professionalism. The way students are trained and developed throughout their pharmacy education on professionalism can be changed using the results of this research. These changes will enable pharmacy students to have higher levels of professionalism during APPE rotations and then continue into their careers as a pharmacist.
