Investigated the relationship between the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised (PPVT-R) and the McCarthy Screening Test (MST) with a sample of 39 children whose mean age was 62.3 months. Analyzed summed scores of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Revised) dyad, vocabulary, and Block Design, cross-tabulated with full scale scores of children (N=249) referred to a gifted program. Coding and maze subtests were used to evaluate children for verification of giftedness. Scaled scores on mazes were significantly higher though the proportion of children meeting the established criterion was similar for either subtest in the Full Scale Scores.
