The Behavior Problem Checklist was used to assess the prevalence of behavior problems in deaf children (N=192) and compare these results to earlier studies of hearing and hearing-impaired children. Results were more consistent with past findings among children with no hearing problems. (Author/RC)

Investigated the validity of the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (K-ABC) with a sample of preschool-age children. The K-ABC did not differentiate between age or sex groups, but blacks scored lower than whites. The findings are supportive of previous validity students and two-factor theories of intelligence. Explored whether there were differences in IQ and achievement (at grades two, five, and seven) between students who delayed school entry and those who were retained in later elementary grades, as well as any interactions with gender.
