In Our Information Society, Why Isn't the Public Library the Most Important Building in Our Community?
Lesko, Matthew
Public Libraries, v31 n2 p85-87 Mar-Apr 1992
Public libraries do not always meet community information needs because librarians are trained to answer questions through books when often the best information in an area is from alternative sources. The government provides free information on investments, jobs, health, and legal problems; experts and clearinghouses are other good information sources. Communication skills and marketing information are also crucial. (MES)
