Bright, George W. – School Science and Mathematics, 1984
Discusses use of microcomputers to assist teachers in diagnosing student errors. Examines what can be diagnosed, whether diagnosis helps, what diagnosis programs can do, what goes into a diagnosis program, and how the programs can be used. Suggests that software be developed for this purpose. (JN)

Lindbeck, Joy S.; Dambrot, Faye – School Science and Mathematics, 1986
Secondary teachers in a workshop on overcoming computer and math anxiety and students in a programming course were given measures of anxiety and achievement. Low mathematical ability and coursework were related to math and computer anxiety and negative attitudes. Attitudes improved for the teachers but not the students. (MNS)

Hohlfeld, Joe – School Science and Mathematics, 1983
Algebraic and computer solutions are offered for a problem on time payment scheduling. The problem, falling within the scope of high school algebra, could focus only on the algebraic methods, but including the computer brings out the relationship between the power of algebra and the power of modern technology. (JN)

Damarin, Suzanne K.; And Others – School Science and Mathematics, 1988
Investigated was a sequence of computer-based activities on estimation with 108 students in grades 9, 10, and 12. The activities were appropriate for students at each grade level; each class improved their estimation scores significantly. (MNS)

Steele, Kathleen J.; And Others – School Science and Mathematics, 1984
To examine the effects of using a microcomputer in mathematics instruction, a nine-month study with 87 fifth-grade students was conducted. The group having drill-and-practice on the microcomputer improved significantly more than a group using an individualized kit, and also gained significantly in computer literacy. (MNS)
